Tag SEO

When you're brand new to internet marketing, you will probably stumble onto some major myths about the great importance of SEO tags. Tag SEO is important, but it is definitely not the only step you must take to achieve high SEO rankings.

There are a lot of things that you must consider and a lot of tasks you must complete in order to achieve high search engine ranking. In addition, depending on the keywords you select, top ranking might be impossible unless you are willing to do a lot of work, or hire someone else to do it for you. For some keywords it is virtually impossible for you to achieve high placement without a year of steady work or paying the equivalent of high advertising dollars to a professional SEO company. Tag SEO is important, but it is not a magical formula. Basically Tag SEO provides you with the ability to describe your site in the search engine results and determine where you will be listed. Your title tags and heading tags contain the bulk of the information that will show up in your search engine results caption.

Tag SEO is actually a very small piece of a very intricate puzzle. The search engines are required to provide a user with useful data that will be helpful to him. Just because you sell discounted televisions doesn't mean that you should come up on Google's first page when a browser types in electronics. In fact, when you really think about it, this is unfair to the browser. It would be accurate if your site showed up under 'discounted televisions, wholesale LCD TVs',' or 'wholesale TVs'.' But a site that had unbiased informative articles about buying discount televisions, or the best quality brand names to buy, should achieve even higher results than yours because it provides even more usefulness to the browser, right? So now you understand a little of what the search engines are looking for when they're listing sites. Now to understand where Tag SEO fits into the entire equation, you must first understand what Meta tags are.

A meta tag is a small line of data that makes up the HEAD portion of your site code. For each web page that you have in your site there is a HEAD section of code. This HEAD section of code describes the keywords that are important for your site, the name of your website, the description of your site, and the author of your site. You determine what you want to put in your HEAD code. For your site selling discounted televisions, you wouldn't want your description to state, "buy discounted electronics for your every need here." Something like, "Discount Televisions from the Best Brand Names in the Business," would be a much better DESCRIPTION meta tag. The TITLE tag is the name of your site. Though your site may be located at www.discount-tv-salesplace.com, your TITLE tag could read, "Discount TV Salesplace." This is what will show up on top of the browser on top of the address bar.

This title helps the search engines know where to place your web page. All of your meta tags should be relevant to the information that you have for each page. If you have a contact page, you can call that something like, "Discount TV Salesplace - Contact Us."

TITLE tags are very important to the search engines, so you have to make sure that at the very least, your pages are titled correctly. If you're only selling discounted TV's in Greenville North Carolina and don't offer online shopping, then you should include your location in your TITLE tags. You should try to be as accurate as possible. "Discount TV Salesplace, Serving Greenville, NC - Contact Us."

Making your titles accurate and informative will help you tremendously. Be honest when you're filling in your description tag. For your discount tv site in Greenville, NC, don't describe it as, "Buying discount TV information." This would be completely inaccurate unless you have this information on the site. If you just have information describing the discount TVs' you have in your shop, then you would describe it like, "Discount TV's for sale in right now in our Greenville, NC store. Come visit us today!"
